How old were you when you first used ecstasy?
I was nineteen.

Where were you?
I was at my friend’s house at a party.

Can you describe your experience?
I remember that I was nervous, but at the same time I was kind of forcing myself to not feel nervous, if that makes sense, because I was so terrified of having a bad trip. So I’m sitting there, waiting for it to work and I look over and see Chris just smiling and feeling the material of his shirt-it was actually kind of creepy. I think like an hour passed and then it hit me. It felt like every part of my body was high, like a warm glow. I felt lighter. Everything looked and tasted and smelled good, you know? I kind of feel like that’s what a depressed person feels like after they take an anti-depressant after some time- it’s like you’ve discovered a whole new world. Anyway, so Chris and I were just eating food and laughing and feeling everything. The next day, I felt so dead. I felt so drained and numb and gross. Chris was throwing up a lot, and I don’t know if that’s because of taking X or if he was drinking.

How long did your high last?
I want to say like six or seven hours.

Have you taken ecstasy since then?

Was it a good experience?
No. It was the most terrifying thing to ever happen to me. It was like a nightmare that I couldn’t wake up from. I felt like I had no control.

Would you take ecstasy again?
After that experience, absolutely not.

Was it easy for you to buy / find?
Yes, I got it from my older brother.

Have you done other drugs?
Prior to ecstasy, I smoked weed. I prefer weed over ecstasy. Ecstasy is fun to do if you’re going to a club or a party and just want to have a good time. It’s not something that you typically do on a weekday by yourself- that’s why I prefer weed.
