Many of our student workers sought employment at the library for one reason: books! A love of literature permeates throughout our student employees with some of them even sharing favorite books or favorite authors. Wondering if your literary twin is hiding somewhere on campus? Check out these student worker profiles to find out!

Frankenstein by: Mary Shelley

The library is full of fans of classic literature, so it’s no surprise that two of our student workers said Frankenstein by: Mary Shelley is their favorite novel.

Rebeca Julia Nobre Sandstrom

Rebeca is a junior creative writing and secondary education dual major from Warminster, PA. She has worked as a front desk attendant at the library for about a year where she is responsible for checking books in and out for students and answering their questions. Her favorite part of the job is helping students track down the perfect book. Aside from loving the “homey” environment of the library, Rebeca loves to embroider, scrapbook, draw, paint, and collect porcelain figures.

Zachary Shiffman

Zachary is a senior creative writing and publishing & editing dual major who has served as a student manager at the library for about a year. Like Rebeca, Zachary also loves helping students find their favorite books. He is from Branchburg, NJ and is unsure what the future has in store for him. His favorite musicians are Rainbow Kitten Surprise, The Raconteurs, and Taylor Swift. He was on the fencing team in high school, and bravely admits that he is too afraid to attempt long division for fear he has forgotten all the steps.

Sarah J. Maas

Sarah J. Maas has taken BookTok by storm, so it’s no wonder her work is popular with our student workers.

Jennifer Martin

Jennifer is a sophomore dual major in creative writing and publishing & editing with a minor in French studies. Her favorite book series is The Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas. Jennifer began working at the library’s service desk during the fall semester where she gets to enjoy the literary atmosphere while helping students and checking books in and out. Upon graduation, she hopes to work as a traveling author while also freelancing, and to eventually, settle in her hometown to open a bookstore. She is from Sweet Valley, PA and she loves to re-watch her favorite shows, especially New Girl. Jennifer also loves crocheting, reading, hanging out with friends, and walking her dog, Angel.

Lillie Cooper

Lillie is a senior international studies major with a minor in theatre performance, and her favorite book is A Court of Thornes and Roses by Sarah J. Maas. She has worked at the library service desk for three years and loves spending time with her coworkers. As an avid reader, she feels at constant peace being surrounded by books while working. She is from Woodbridge, VA and loves R&B and K-pop. Lillie’s favorite animal is an alpaca or llama, and she recently went on her GO trip to South Korea. This GO trip fueled her love for studying language and she hopes to go to graduate school abroad once she graduates.

Sally Rooney

Sally Rooney is another author that has been taking the world by storm through her works of contemporary fiction. Recently, her novels Conversations with Friends and Normal People were adapted into Hulu series.

Emma Ritter

Emma is a sophomore creative writing and publishing & editing dual major, and her favorite book is Conversations with Friends by Sally Rooney. In high school, she did community service at her local library in Pennsburg, PA, which is what motivated her to seek out a job at the Blough-Weis Library. She has worked as at the front desk for about a year and her favorite part of the job is getting to see what books other students are reading in hopes of finding inspiration for her own reading list. She hopes to one day work for a magazine as either a staff writer or editor. Emma also loves to hike and climb mountains, so one of her life goals is to visit every national park in the country!

Katie Sheaffer

Katie is a senior special education major, and her favorite book is Normal People by Sally Rooney. She currently serves as a student manager for the library and has been with us for three years. She loves the library’s comforting environment and says it has been a pleasure to get to work with each of our wonderful librarians. After graduation, Katie plans to work as a special education teacher and hopes to go back to school to get her ABA certificate to be a behavior analyst. Three fun facts about her are that she can play the mandolin, she once met Nick Jonas, and she has a pun sock collection.
