EUBACTERIA> PROTEOBACTERIAE> SPIROCHAETAE> SPIROCHAETOBACTERIA

This system follows that of Margulis and Schwartz (1998) and Garrity et al. (2001 and 2003) who treat the spirochaetes as a phylum.
