CLASS DICTYOCHOPHYCEAE
- ORDER DICTYOCHALES
- Silica skeletons at some point in the life history. Photosynthetic.
- Dictyocha, Distephanus (?).
- ORDER PEDILLELALES
- Unicells with 1 emergent ribbon-like flagellum (text with tooltip) The ribbon-like flagellum is a tinsel (with flagellar hairs) flagellum and is flattened. Although it occurs in several groups of microbial eukaryotes, it is characteristic of dinoflagellates where it lies in the cingulum. ; sometimes with a stalk or peduncle and ring of “tentacles” at the anterior end.Cells naked, with organic scales or delicate loricas. Photosynthetic or autotrophic.
- Actinomonas, Apedinella, Ciliopphrys, Mesopedinella, Palatinella, Pedinella, Pseudopedinella, Pteridomonas.
- ORDER RHIZOCHROMULINALES
- Vegetative cells amoeboid; photosynthetic; motile stages.
- Rhizochromulina.
CLASS PELAGOPHYCEAE
- ORDER PELAGOMONADALES
- Coccoid or flagellated unicells; flagellum single, no flagellar roots.
- Aureococcus, Aureoumbra, Pelagococcus, Pelagomonas.
- ORDER SARCINOCHRYSODALES
- Motile cells, filaments, or capsoid/sarcinoid; wall organic but not cellulose; biflagellate motile cells with four flagellar root.
- Ankylochrisis, Nematochrysopsis, Pulvinaria, Sarcinochrysis.
