PHYLOGENY OF THE FLOWERING PLANTS (APG, 1998)

PHYLOGENY OF THE FLOWERING PLANTS (APG, 1998)

A phylogeny defined by the work of the Angiosperm Phylogeny Group (Bremer et al., 1998). The tree indicates that the monocots and eudicots are monophyletic groups, each with one or more defined groups. The base of the tree has a group of paraphyletic orders. A taxonomic system that utilizes this work is in the formative stages and included in Plant Systematics, A Phylogenetic Approach (Judd et al., 2002), a new text of vascular plant taxonomy.
