SIMPLIFIED VERTEBRATE CLADOGRAM

SIMPLIFIED VERTEBRATE CLADOGRAM

EUKARYA>UNIKONTA>OPISTHOKONTA>ANIMALIA>DEUTEROSTOMATA>CRANIATA
This is a simplification of the presentation in Tudge (2000). I have designated only those taxa that are not extinct. Representatives of the standard vertebrate classes are indicated by color. Clearly, the paraphyletic groups are Agnatha (red), Osteichthyes (yellow), and Reptilia (indigo). This suggests that the Phylum Vertebrata should have at least 11 Classes.
