This project explores the world of alcohol production, distribution, and consumption in the Central Susquehanna Valley in the early twentieth century. Like many semi-rural places in the United States, the Valley experienced years of turmoil, as rapid change bumped up against stubborn tradition. The forces at odds were local, regional, and national in origin. The divisions were political and cultural. The drama was real.
