Where They Fell

This project highlights the Civil War battles at which Snyder County’s Union volunteers died. For each of the veterans buried in area cemeteries, we take you to the spots where their service ended. Our identifications are based on the 1917 list compiled by George Wagenseller and printed in Snyder County Annals in 1919.

This list is not comprehensive. There are men included in Wagenseller’s list for whom no specific information could be found about the circumstances of death. This typically occurred when there were not detailed pension applications from the soldier’s widow.
