5-year-old Richard Deibler was riding in a coupe driven by Kenneth Moyer, of Selinsgrove, when they collided with a car driven by “Mr. Fry,” of Dauphin County on a Sunday evening. Also in Moyer’s car were Helen Davison and her daughter Elizabeth and 8-year-old Marand Steffen.

They were rounding a curve when the head-on collision occurred. Deibler and Steffen were thrown through the windshield, with Deibler sustaining a broken collar bone, cuts to his head, and internal injuries and Steffen suffering cuts to his head and chest. Moyer received a deep cut to his knee, and Elizabeth Davison was also cut on her head. Deibler’s parents were 29-year-old Mildred Deibler and 30-year-old William Deibler, who was an automobile salesman in Selinsgrove.

1928 January 

53-year-old Norton Bower was driving a car northward on the Susquehanna Trail across from Sunbury when a Packard car driven by 39-year-old hotelier James Follmer, of Beaver Springs, skidded and stopped in the northbound lane. Bower crashed into Follmer. The Bower car contained Norton’s 44-year-old wife Daisy, their 21-year-old daughter-in-law Elizabeth, and Elizabeth’s daughter, 3-year-old Jean.

Norton suffered a cracked rib, while Daisy and Elizabeth sustained head injuries. Follmer cut his hands. The Nortons received a settlement of $3500 from Follmer in October 1928.
