Blough-Weis Library always had a large collection of print periodicals available to the campus community, but with the convenience of online access ever-increasing, the print journal has seen significant decreases in use with each passing semester.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Blough-Weis Library has reevaluated several of our resources and the means by which we make them available.

While some journals will always hold value as a physical item, there are hundreds of existing titles that can be better used for student and faculty research if they were available for immediate, online access. Due to this, we’re excited to announce some major changes to our periodicals and journal collections.

Please note, the following changes will take effect beginning January 1, 2021. We will send out more information on these changes before they are live.

Electronic Access to Science Magazine

The journal, Science, one of the most popular and respected peer-reviewed resources in the world, will now be available online from issue 1, published in 1880 to the current issue. Until now, our most recent issues were available in print-only and stored on the ground floor of the library in compact shelving.

1,400 New Wiley-Blackwell Titles

Blough-Weis Library is adding over 1,400 Wiley-Blackwell journal titles beginning on January 1. Journal coverage will include all issues published from 1997-current.

You can view the entire list of journals being added in this package here, or you can browse Wiley-Blackwell journal titles directly from their website here.

1,100 new SAGE Titles

A package with SAGE Publishing is adding over 1,100 new journal titles to our electronic collection, beginning on January 1. This interdisciplinary collection brings new titles in subjects like

  • Business Management
  • Communications & Media Studies
  • Education
  • Politics & International Relations
  • Psychology
  • Sociology

You can view that entire title list here.

This deal, in coordination with our recently purchased SAGE Deep Backfile collection, provides access for over 600 SAGE titles from volume 1, issue 1, to the most recent issue available.

Popular Magazines Now Available through Flipster

The library will be transitioning many of our popular magazines to an online platform called Flipster.

Flipster provides instant access to some of the most popular magazine titles in an easy-to-read format through your web browser or through the Flipster mobile app. Click here to download the app for iOS or Android.
