Not everyone at the library has to be bookish in nature. In fact, many of our student workers come from a wide range of academic backgrounds. Here are some of these hardworking student employees:

Fotoula Kolokas

Fotoula is a junior biochemistry major with a minor in Spanish, who has been working as a service desk student associate at the library for a year. Her motivation for working at the library came from a desire to be better connected to the Susquehanna community. Therefore, it’s no surprise that her favorite part of working at the library is getting to interact with and help students. The Coopersburg-native hopes to one day work in a research lab for a pharmaceuticals company. She is an avid Taylor Jenkins Reid fan and says her favorite books are Malibu Rising and Carrie Soto is Back. Aside from her work at the library, she loves going to the beach and swimming. She also has a black long-haired German Shepherd named Thor.

Alexandra McNee

Alexandra is a senior history and computer science double major from Dallas, PA who just started working as a library intern this semester. She feels that this internship was the perfect opportunity to combine everything she has learned within both her majors. This is because her responsibilities consist of creating digital exhibitions of the library’s historical materials. Upon graduation, Alexandra hopes to work in a museum where she can handle primary sources and artifacts, while also getting to do data research. Aside from her work at the library, she enjoys reading, listening to true crime podcasts, and going for walks. Her current favorite book is A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini.

Joshua Kimotho

Joshua is a junior finance major who just started working as a front desk assistant this semester. The Harrisburg-native enjoys meeting all the new people and the library and says the environment is a great place to work and learn new skills. His favorite thing to read is the Wall Street Journal, and he hopes to one day become a financial analyst. Aside from his interest in finance, Joshua is a cross country and track athlete, a soccer enthusiast, and a saxophone player.

Alison Gassert

Alison is a junior advertising and PR major with a minor in anthropology. She has been working at the library for three years and currently serves as a student manager. Although she works the manager closing shift, the Shoemakersville-native loves the calming environment of the library and all the other student workers. Alison is a self-proclaimed coffee addict who hopes to one day live in a big city. Her favorite read right now is Circe by Madeline Miller.
