ACANTHOR

Pronounciation: a-KAN-thor.

Etymology: Acanthor is derived from the Latinized Greek term, akanthos, which means spiny.

The acanthor is the first larval stage of the Acanthocephalan parasite. It has a rostellum with hooks used to penetrate the intermediate host.
