AECIUM

Pronunciation: E-se-um

Etymology: Aecium is a Latin form of a Greek term that means not seemly or an injury (ἀεικίη).

An Aecium (-a, n.) is a cup-shaped structure that contains chains of aeciospores in the rust fungi.

This is a section through an aecium of Puccinia. The aeciospores form as long chains in the cup-like structure.
