REFLECTION COURSE ASSIGNMENT

For the FINAL ESSAY, reflect upon your growth with respect to learning goal #3: Reflect on your personal growth, social responsibility, and the value of active participation in human society.

Before you write, we encourage you to

  • read through all of the learning goals
  • reflect on the writing assignments you have completed since October
  • think about your current understanding of your “cultural competency” (what was it before?)
  • think about all of the activities of the Virtual GO class
  • think about your student partner and all of the people you met and engaged with
  • think about your journey of learning and cross-cultural engagement
  • think about what it’s been like for you since the Virtual GO program ended

Then, after this reflection, consider your thoughts on the third learning Goal. Your essay may, of course, be in the first person. It should be 1000-1200 words. It should reference at least two specific activities of the Virtual Program, though may discuss more. Be specific. You have so much material to draw upon – you should have a lot to say. Use this assignment to “complete your journey.”

LAST DAY COOKING LIST:

We’ll be making a Czech favorite – bramboráky (potato pancakes). It will be interactive, so we hope that you can all get into a kitchen and cook along with us. We know it will be a bit early in the US, but you can save the bramboráky for lunch, or even throw an egg on it for a late breakfast. 🙂 And note that this recipe makes multiple pancakes, so there will be plenty to share with family and friends.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg (approx. 2 lbs) peeled potatoes
  • eggs
  • 4 tablespoons flour
  • 4 big cloves of garlic
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Dried marjoram
  • Vegetable oil for frying
