Websites by Holocaust Museums Around the World

“If we bear all this suffering and if there are still Jews left, when it is over, then Jews, instead of being doomed, will be held up as an example.”

Anne Frank

Museums serve many different purposes and cater to a variety of audiences. They typically provide visual, and sometimes audio, educational tools for people to learn more about a specific time-period or event. Although education is usually the main goal of a museum, the prevention and remembrance of an event is just as important, especially when it comes to museums that focus on the Holocaust.  The goal of this site is to analyze and critique major Holocaust museums and memorials around the world.

The museums on this site are divided into categories based on their geographic location: Western European museums, Central and Eastern European museums, North American museums, and non-Western museums.  This helps show how certain features of the museums are reflected by their locations and the typical cultures and audiences associated with these locations.  The museums focused on in this website can be found in the interactive map below, which includes a link to the English version of each museum studied.
